French multinational food and dairy firm Danone plans to invest $60 million in an expansion of the company’s Mount Crawford, VA facility to increase the site’s production capacity for plant-based beverages and add on warehouse space, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced in a Oct. 18 press release.

Operated by DanoneWave, a White Plains, NY-based business unit of Danone and WhiteWave Foods, the project is expected to add on about 49 new jobs to the facility’s existing payroll of more than 500 workers.

Powder & Bulk Solids reported in July 2016 that Danone acquired WhiteWave, a maker of organic dairy and plant-based milk alterative products, for $12.5 billion, expanding the French firm’s portfolio holdings in North America.

WhiteWave produces brands like Earthbound Farm, Silk, and Horizon Organic.
