Pasta and food ingredients manufacturer Dakota Growers Pasta Company is preparing to launch a $2 million project at its Carrington, ND plant to improve the site’s grain handling capabilities, increase efficiency, and upgrade the facility, according to a report published Wednesday in The Jamestown Sun.

Plant superintendent Jason Jarrett told the newspaper that the company, part of the holding firm 8th Avenue Food and Provisions, will develop a six-acre site with a grain probe, grading, and scales. The added features are intended to reduce receiving times during the busy harvest season.

The facility receives durum wheat from the area around Carrington to process into flour for pasta production, the Sun noted. Jarrett said the investment will enable the facility to increase the amount of grain delivery trucks it can handle per day from up to 30 to about 50.

Work on the upgrades is expected to finish next summer.

Dakota Growers Pasta produces pasta products for foodservice and private brand customers, information on its website states. The company also operates a pasta production plant in New Hope, MN.
