Pea and barley products supplier Dakota Dry Bean divested its barley business and its production assets to specialty food and pet food ingredients supplier Anchor Ingredients Company.

“The addition allows Anchor to both increase its processing capacity, as well as provide additional outlets for its farm-level partners across the region,” Anchor said in a press release on the transaction issued Monday.

Under the terms of the deal, Anchor will acquire Dakota Dry Bean’s facility in East Grand Forks, MN. The facility pearls and mills barley into premium ingredients used in both human food and pet food.

Anchor said the purchase of the business will enable it to accommodate growth over the next few years. The company currently operates five processing plants in North Dakota and Montana.
