Firefighters were sent to the Country Visions Cooperative grain elevator in Kiel, WI after officials received a report of fire and smoke coming from a corn dryer at the site.

Dispatched to the location at 1:31 p.m., crews observed heavy smoke coming from the rear of the structure and visible flames, according to a release issued by the City of Kiel Fire Department. Fire officials requested backup from other area fire departments during the response.

“Due to the height of the dryer, Kiel and New Holstein ladder trucks were deployed,” Kiel Fire said. “Additional resources assisted withs suppression and overhaul efforts.”

The scene was cleared after about three hours. No one was injured.

Country Visions currently operates nine grain elevators and storage sites, including the Kiel elevator. The firm also provides grain marketing services.
