The Consumer Brands Association has appointed Genna Gent as executive vice president of industry engagement effective May 17.

“This is such an important hire at such an important time for the association and I could not be more pleased to be welcoming Genna to the team,” said David Chavern, president and CEO of the Consumer Brands Association. “Genna brings exceptional experience as a strategic leader spanning government, association and corporate sectors. Serving in this critical role, I’m confident Genna will continue to strengthen Consumer Brands’ position as the leading voice for the consumer products industry and expand the value proposition of the association.”

Gent will serve as the organization’s strategic engineer for products, sales, and business growth. Responsible for cultivating experiences that drive industry engagement and value, she will oversee areas of Membership, Industry Solutions, and Meetings & Events, including Consumer Brands’ flagship events CPG Summit and CPG Legal Forum.

Gent joins Consumer Brands from McDonald’s Corp., where she led global public policy and government affairs and successfully impacted critical legislation and developed tailored strategies to keep McDonald’s policy needs and community-impacting work front of mind for lawmakers. She also spearheaded the company’s COVID-related government relations strategy.

Prior to McDonald’s, Gent ran government affairs for the American Beverage Association and was deputy chief of staff for Michigan’s Governor Jennifer M. Granholm.
