Firefighters were called to the North Dakota Mill and Elevator in Grand Forks, ND on Monday evening after a fire started in a piece of equipment, several local news organizations reported.

Dispatched to the Mill Road site at about 8 p.m., crews arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the top of the K mill, coverage by local radio station KNOX said. An automatic sprinkler system activated during the incident.

Fire officials told ValleyNewsLive.com that a mechanical failure in a piece of equipment may have started the blaze.

The fire reportedly caused $10,000 in damage.

North Dakota Mill, owned by the state of North Dakota, is the largest flour mill in the United States. It is also known as the State Mill. The facility recently announced that it selected milling technology and services firm Ocrim to construct two new milling plants and renovate an existing plant at the North Forks location.
