Animal nutrition and feed additives manufacturer BIOMIN recently opened a new feed premix production facility in Haag am Hausruck, Austria that includes a quality control lab and 54 silos, the company announced in a release this month.

“The new production unit represents the BIOMIN promise to customers by leveraging advanced technologies to deliver high quality animal nutrition solutions while ensuring safety, sustainability, and traceability,” said Franz Waxenecker, managing director of BIOMIN, in a statement.

The new site has a storage capacity of 1100-sq-m. BIOMIN designed the facility to lower risks of cross-contamination and provide transparency. A number of other technologies were installed to ensure safety and traceability during operations.

“Self-driving automated guided vehicles (AGVs) ensure transport of materials throughout the facility in a closed container system,” the company said in the release. “Batch managed inventory and electronic records capture when employees perform specific actions such as dosing or emptying each silo, for example.”

BIOMIN’s plant in Haag am Hausruck has received several quality certifications, including GMP+, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and HAACP.
