American branded food products manufacturer and distributor B&G Foods announced plans this month to reorganize into four new business units to propel organic and acquisition growth. The units include Spices & Seasonings, Meals, Frozen & Vegetables, and Specialty.

“These units will define the categories and brands that will run for efficiency and cash flow, and the businesses we may exit over time,” B&G Foods President and Chief Executive Officer Casey Keller said in a recent company release. “The business unit structure will also push accountability and multi-function responsibility down to more closely managed parts of the complex B&G Foods portfolio – improving the speed and clarity of decision making to delivery growth and financial performance.”

B&G Foods’ current executive vice president and chief customer officer Ellen Schum will become president of the Specialty business unit and remain the firm’s executive vice president. Kristen Thompson, who serves as director of marketing for Green Giant, was promoted to president of Frozen & Vegetables. A search is underway for the president of Meals role.

The company also announced the forthcoming retirement of its executive vice president and chief supply chain officer Erich Fritz. The executive is slated to exit the company on October 1.

“On behalf of our entire company, I want to thank Erich for his contributions to B&G Foods’ success over the past three years as our chief supply chain officer,” Keller said in a statement. “Erich did an admirable job leading our supply chain efforts despite the unprecedented challenges during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing supply chain challenges and input cost inflation.”
