Flour miller and ingredient manufacturer Ardent Mills has made “significant” upgrades and investments in its retail flour packaging capabilities, the Denver, CO-based company announced this week.

“I am proud of our team’s dedication to their customers, consumers, and communities; and our ability to make strategic investment decisions to ensure that their needs are met,” Troy Anderson, vice president of operations for Ardent Mills, said in a company release. “Ardent Mills is focused on our customers’ success, while remaining extremely intentional around the safety of our people and products – these investments are no excpetion.”

The firm’s investments include the addition of a retail packer at its existing facility in Mt. Pocono, PA, which specailzes in small pack options like 2, 5, and 10 lb bags. Ardent Mills also launched a dedicated retail team, which added warehouses at several of the firm’s retail mills in North America. Another retail line was added at the company’s Newton, KS facility.

In order to respond to changing consumer behaviors, Ardent Mills also is acquiring three retail packers and one new line. The new assets are slated to become fully operational this September. Two retail packers are conducting upgrades of existing lines that will be finished in early 2021.

“These significant investments will position us well and provide the necessary flexibility to serve our customers and consumers,” said Ardent Mills Chief Growth Officer Angie Goldberg in a statement. “We’re excited about how quickly we’ve been able to execute on our growth strategy and look forward to continuing this work.”
