Frozen food company Amy's Kitchen announced Monday that it will be closing its San Jose, CA production center sometime in September.
The factory had been in operation since March 2021.
Acting COO and chief culinary officer, Fred Scarpulla, told the Mercury News that the facility has lost an estimated $1 million a month for the last six to eight months due to inflation, rising materials costs, labor shortages, and supply chain disruptions.
In January, factory line employees at the company’s production plant in Santa Rosa, CA filed a complaint with the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health about workplace health and safety issues.
