Firefighters responded to an industrial accident at the Tyson Prepared Foods plant in Hutchinson, KS on Friday morning that left two with injuries, according to coverabe by several local news organizations.

The ammonia leak occurred at about 8:30 a.m. as contractors were doing work on a refrigeration system, officials told the Hutchinson Post.

“We’re investigating an ammonia leak that happened Friday morning at our Hutchinson, KS facility. The facility was evacuated, and two team members were taken to the hospital for treatment,” Tyson said in a statement to the Hays Post. “We’re grateful for the local emergency response teams who assisted the facility to care for team members and address the situation.”

Late last week, Powder & Bulk Solids reported that Tyson is facing a lawsuit that alleges that several managers at the firm’s meat processing plant in Waterloo, IA were betting on the number of employees that would contract COVID-19.
