Powders and Bulk Solids Flow in Bins, Hoppers, Feeders
The Bulk Solids Innovation Center at KSU is offering a course on powder and bulk solids flow in bins, hoppers, and chutes.

The Bulk Solids Innovation Center at Kansas Sate University is offering a course – which includes a site visit to a bulk solids handling equipment manufacturer - on April 12-14, 2016 that cover topics related to powders and bulk solids flow in bins, hoppers, and chutes. Course topics include:

* Flow properties and flow property testing
* Material characterization testing
* Design of bins, hoppers, chutes, and feeders
* Moisture, caking, and agglomeration effects
* Flow aids
* Discrete element method
* Particle segregation and solutions

The course is ideal for those responsible for designing, improving, or troubleshooting powders and bulk solids handling systems, such as engineers, operators, managers, and technicians, in the following industries:

* Plastics
* Chemical
* Mineral
* Food
* Pharmaceutical
* Grain and Feed

The course will be held at the new Bulk Solids Innovation Center in Salina, KS. The Center contains sophisticated equipment and controls for measurement of actual bulk solids behaviors including storage, conveying, gravity flow, blending, segregation, degradation, dust collection, safety, and air pollution control. This facility allows for students to get training on how to operate and problem solve with this equipment.

The registration deadline is April 5, 2016. Register at bulksolids.k-state.edu/profdev. CEUs = 2.3 hours.

The cost is $1500 per attendee. The registration fee includes course instruction, materials and supplies, morning refreshments, lunch, and afternoon refreshments.
