Free Webinar: Powder Storage and Feeding -- An Overview
Joe Marinelli, president, Solids Handling Technologies Inc.

On Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 2pm Eastern/11am Pacific, Joseph Marinelli, president, Solids Handling Technologies Inc., will present Powder Storage and Feeding: An Overview as part of Powder & Bulk Solids’ free DryPro webinar series.

This webinar will discuss the storage and feeding of powders. This is a broad topic and we will provide general information regarding the importance of proper silo or bin design when it comes to handling powders. Additionally, we will discuss the importance of feeding or discharging powders to your process. During this webinar we will highlight several aspects of reliably handling powders in bins, hoppers, and feeders:

* Flow problems, the effects of these flow problems and flow patterns when handling powders
* Measuring powder flow properties
* Factors that affect a powder’s flowability
* Typical hopper geometries to ensure reliable flow
* Proper feeder design, as the feeder must work in unison with the hopper

Attendees will be exposed to basic principles of powder handling. Plant engineers, plant equipment operators, and process engineers will discover valuable resources that will allow them to identify a particular flow issue and possible solutions to these problems.

Marinelli has been providing consulting services since the early 1970s. As a former consultant with Jenike & Johanson Inc., he has years of experience testing solids and designing bins and feeders for reliable flow. He lectures frequently on the topic and has published several articles including a chapter in a chemical encyclopedia and food technology book.
