Emergency personnel were called to a report of an industrial accident at the Rason Asphalt plant in Melville, NY last Friday.

A worker identified as 26-year-old Timothy Baumann fell from a conveyor belt at the Spagnoli Road facility around 8 a.m., injuring his arm, Suffolk Police Department said in a statement. The man was taken to an area hospital by helicopter with serious injuries.

The US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was informed of the incident and has opened an investigation, police stated.

Television news station WABC reported in March last year that an asphalt tank exploded at Rason Asphalt’s Melville location.
