Additive manufacturing equipment and materials supplier 3D Systems revealed plans Tuesday to invest $13 million in an expansion of its manufacturing capabilities. The company will add a 100,000-sq-ft facility at its existing location in Rock Hill, SC.

3D Systems provides 3D printers, materials, software, and services to a range of end-user industries, including healthcare, industrial, automotive, aerospace, and defense.

“We’re excited to expand 3D Systems’ presence here at our headquarters in York County. We look forward to enhancing our facilities and growing our workforce to not only accelerate our innovation but to contribute to the economic development of Rock Hill and South Carolina,” the company’s chief executive officer and president, Dr. Jeffrey Graves, said in a release.

The project is expected to reach completion in early 2022. 50 new jobs will be created as a result of the firm’s investment.

“3D Systems’ continued investment in South Carolina speaks to the strength of our workforce and our dynamic business climate,” South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster said in a statement. “We applaud their decision to invest $13 million and create 50 new jobs in York County.”
