Worker Dies Fracking

A Kelowna man died March 11 at a hydraulic fracturing operation in Northern British Columbia, according to Castanet.

Jack Shawn Eyles, 28, was killed in an industrial accident at the Progress Gas Plant north of Fort St. John. Eyles was part of a team working a well-site when something went wrong just after midnight.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A source said Eyles was working in the nitrogen pumping division for Calfrac. Apparently high-pressure iron failed, with Eyles in the immediate vicinity at the time.

The B.C. Coroner's service, WorkSafeBC, and the RCMP continue to investigate the death.
