Nine people were killed and two injured after an explosion at a chemical plant in east China Monday morning.

The explosion occurred at Tianbao Chemical Industry Company, Ltd, in in Shandong province. The company manufactures powder and emulsion explosives for mining and civil use.

The cause of the explosion, which occurred at 8:20 am local time, was unknown.
