Lewellyn Technology, Westex Inc., and Iowa State University will host a free seminar on combustible dust September 3 in Iowa.
An OSHA Perspective on Combustible Dust: A Practical Seminar for Combustible Dust Safety will be held at the Iowa State University Alumni Center.
The six-hour seminar will focus on combustible dust sampling and testing methodologies, OSHA’s Combustible Dust National Emphasis Program, and explosion protection and prevention methods, along with other topics to make facilities safer.
Seminar registration is limited to two representatives per organization. The seminar will be hosted by Jason Reason of Lewellyn Technology and Scott Margolin of Westex Inc. Reason has a bachelor’s of science in industrial hygiene, more than 12 years of experience as an OSHA compliance safety and health officer, and has assisted OSHA in performing many combustible dust inspections. Margolin is the international technical director for Westex Inc. Prior to joining Westex in 2000, he was a firefighter for six years. He then worked for 10 years at a major chemical company in two of its flame-resistant fiber businesses, where he conducted more than 3200 flash fires and 1100 arc flashes in labs.
