Explosion at Food Chemical Plant Injures Three

At least three people were injured when an explosion occurred at the Corbion food chemical plant in Grandview, MO Wednesday morning.

The explosion destroyed a wall of the building. Firefighters were called to the facility at about 4:30 a.m., and reported a fire in the building that they were able to quickly control.

Investigators believe the blast originated near a dust collector at the facility, which manufactures baking ingredients.

The injuries were reported as minor, with two of the injured workers released from the hospital hours after the incident took place.

OSHA is investigating the scene. Clean up of the site could take months.
