Chinese Food Packaging Plant Fire Kills 18

A food packaging factory in China's Shandong Province caught fire Sunday evening killing 18 people and injuring 13, according to local authorities.

The fire at Longyuan Food Company Ltd started at about 7 p.m. Sunday in the carrot packaging workshop in Shouguang City. The fire was reportedly extinguished by 9:30 p.m.

Thirteen people are being treated for injuries, two of which are considered serious, and one life-threatening.

An investigation is ongoing.
