Chilworth Technology Inc., a DEKRA company, announced that Dr. Vahid Ebadat, CEO of Chilworth North America, and a member of Powder & Bulk Solids Editorial Advisory Board, recently contributed a chapter to Handbook of Food Powders: Processes and Properties, published by Woodhead Publishing.
“As CEO of Chilworth North America, I take very seriously the Chilworth mission to share our expertise in process safety and help increase awareness of process safety excellence globally,” said Dr. Ebadat. “In fact, most of our engineers write and present frequently on topics related to process safety management programs, process safety proficiency, and culture in publications and conferences throughout the year.”
Handbook of Food Powders explores the processing and handling technologies in the production of food powders. It also looks at specialty powders such as dairy, infant formulas, and specialty products. The book was edited by Bhesh Bhandari, Nidhi Bansal, University of Queensland, Australia, Min Zhang, Jiangnan University, China, and Pierre Schuck, INRA, France.
Dr. Ebadat’s chapter is entitled, “Ensuring Process Safety in Food Powder Production: The Risk of Dust Explosion”, and discusses dust explosion hazards, laboratory testing to assess explosion characteristics of dust clouds, safety from dust cloud explosion hazards, and specific unit operations.
