Purdue Develops New Powder Flow Aid Technology

A new technology developed by researchers at Purdue University enables operators to improve the flow and consistency of powders without having to hammer on the side of bins. The Bluetooth-controlled powder flow aid created by the university is used inside the bin to vibrate powder and monitor the material. Users of Purdue’s new powder flow aid technology can modify the vibration intensity of the device and its location within the bin to achieve greater product consistency. The university said the technology has applications for the agricultural and grain industries, as well as other end-use markets. 

Automated Horizonal Flow Wrapper for Harsh Environments

New Richmond, WI-based Bosch Packaging Technology Inc. recently introduced a new version of its Pack 403 fully automated horizontal flow wrapper that is geared toward use in harsh environments. The Pack 403HE can wrap a wide range of products, including chocolate, frozen foods, and meats, at medium or high speeds. The new version has features that make the equipment easier to clean and the system can produce up to 400 packages/min.

Industrial Magnetics Inc. announced the release of a new version of its Rare Earth Bullet magnet separator with improved holding strength to capture ferrous metal contaminants in powder and bulk, pneumatic-line processing applications. The enhanced Bullet circuit incorporates an optimized, 52 MgOe rare earth magnetic design and achieves 28 lb of nominal pull value on a ½-in. ball - the highest value of any 3-in. circuit available.
