Enhanced Secondary Horizontal Shaft Impactor
The Grand Slam secondary horizontal shaft impactor now features a new grinding path and apron adjustment system. This impactor series uses high-chrome metallurgy to increase the wear life of machine components, reducing metal replacement costs. Used for a wide variety of industrial applications including aluminum dross and brick, clay, shale, grog, refractory brick, ceramics, floor tile, glass, bakery waste, and scrap carbide recycling, it reduces material size more efficiently with maximum uptime. The Crush Plus grinding path system creates a third crushing chamber to maximize one-pass product yield, minimize oversize, improve material soundness, and produce highly cubical product. The Max-Yield automated apron adjustment system maintains gap-setting adjustment for aprons and the grinding path. The PLC-controlled Max-Yield improves one-pass product yield and reduces product-changeover downtime.

Powder Rheometer Hopper Design Software
Drawing on the characterization capabilities of the FT4 powder rheometer, the new software package improves access to well-established hopper design methodologies, speeding up and simplifying compilation and interpretation of the required data. The two criteria defining the limits of a bin to operate in mass flow mode are outlet size and hopper half-angle. Both are calculated using data generated from shear cell, wall friction, and compressibility testing. All the required data can be generated simply and easily using the FT4 in a series of fully automated measurements taking approximately two hours. The new software, which will become part of the FT4’s standard data-analysis package, is supported by a step-by-step guide to hopper design, simplifying what has traditionally been a complex process.

Solid/Liquid Delivery System
SolidQuid is a solid/liquid delivery system that utilizes motive process liquids to convey bulk powders to a slurry tank. Ideal for automatic, measured delivery of dry bulk ingredients to a process tank, it allows users to wet and convey dry bulk ingredients with a single integrated system. Unlike more-traditional means of delivery, wherein dry solids are deposited on top of process liquids using a mechanical conveyor, this system pre-wets solids and transports them to the slurry tank in the liquid stream using standard plumbing components. Delivering powders via this approach prevents clumping and prolonged “floating,” reducing mixing time, dusting, total footprint, and energy consumption, saving time and money. The standard system incorporates a bulk bag unloader and PosiPortion feeder, allowing the user to accurately and efficiently meter-feed the exact amount of required dry ingredients from a bulk bag. The rate of feed into the liquid eductor is accurately monitored and dispersed by the controls based upon the desired solid-to-liquid ratio.

Mechanical Bin/Silo Discharger with Volumetric Screw Feeder
This totally mechanical discharger for bulk chemicals contained in silos, bins, and hoppers uses gentle agitation rather than vibration or air injection systems. Each mechanical discharger is compact and incorporates an arch breaker spindle mounted with flexible blades that extract the bulk chemicals and prevent any jamming, bridging, or compaction caused by vibration. The volumetric screw feeder is correlated with the mechanical discharger. The extraction flow rate is able to feed up to 20,000 lb/hr, depending on the chemical product’s density. According to the process, the discharger can be integrated to 1, 2, 3, or 4 independent screw feeders, allowing accurate conveying to different injection points with only one silo or container (no bypass or diverters).

Pneumatic Slide Gates
Pneumatic slide gates are an economical and reliable component used to control air flow and conserve energy. These gates deliver a positive shutoff to service machinery or to divert air. They operate using a compressed air cylinder; innovative safety guards reduce the risk of injury. Standard slide gates are constructed from heavy-duty gauge steel. They are made for tough applications where material is a concern and are available in 4- to 24-in. sizes.

Loading System
This loading system combines advanced Multijector vacuum conveyors with a level-controlled buffer hopper. First, the respective powders, granules, and other bulk materials to be packed are safely transported under vacuum and then used to supply the pack-aging and filling process on demand. The result is an interactive, enclosed transfer system, suitable for pellets, capsules, or tablets. This conveying method has advantages over conventional mechanical-transport technologies. Apart from supplying packaging lines, vacuum conveyors safely load mixers, filling machines, tablet presses, or any other kind of process equipment or vessel.

Screen Classifying Cutter
The Model SCC-15 cuts hard, soft, and fibrous materials into controlled particle sizes with minimal fines at high rates. A patented helical rotor design with dozens of cutter heads attached to a helical array of staggered holders (interconnected parallelograms) continuously shears oversize materials against twin, stationary bed knives. Unlike conventional knife cutters that slice materials into strips in scissorlike fashion, the SCC cutter is configured with carbide-tipped cutter heads along the entire shaft, with no frontal gaps between the tips, making total contact with the product.
