Heumann Environmental Announces $6 Million Fertilizer Orders

Heumann Environmental Co. (HEC), a designer and manufacturer of specialized equipment to help industries control air pollution, collect nuisance dust, and recover product, has been awarded approximately $6 million in contracts to provide wet scrubbers for new fertilizer plants under construction in the U.S. The wet scrubbers will be used to capture fine particulate so that the stringent stack emission requirements are met.

Worldwide fertilizer demand has consistently increased in recent years and the U.S. has become the focus for the construction of new fertilizer production facilities because of the abundant low-cost natural gas feedstock now available as a result of fracking, the new drilling method being used to access previously unobtainable gas deposits. This cheap natural gas is transformed into hydrogen and combined with nitrogen from air to form ammonia, which is then used to make the valuable fertilizer products.
