AFS to Host Fourth Bi-Annual Emissions Solutions in Transportation Conference

The American Filtration & Separations Society is hosting its fourth Bi-Annual Emissions Solutions in Transportation Conference in Ann Arbor, MI, October 6-8, 2009. The Conference has two separate tracks with short courses Monday, October 5 dealing with the basics of air and liquid filtration as well as four additional courses.

This conference is designed for both the engineer and mangers that have a vested interest in current and new technologies and future needs in emission solutions. The program is created to cover most every aspect of the industry an engineer will encounter. It begins with idea creation and innovative concepts through final testing procedures and the updated status of governing and future regulations from CARB, EPA, etc. The audience will consist of senior executives, business, technical and research managers from OEM’s, industry suppliers, filtration and separations companies, all with the objective to understand current industry needs and identify future opportunities.

The regulators continue to up the ante and emission control technology improvements seem to follow. It all stated in the 1980s and accelerated in the 1990s. The fittest survived, yet the beat goes on, seemly, without end. Reach one level and another is there to take its place.  Getting to market with innovative cost-effective technology is a constant challenge.

Highlighting the conference are a number of blue-ribbon plenary, luncheon and banquet speakers. They include: Charlie Freese, General Motors; Dr. Dennis Assanis, University of Michigan; W.E. Lay Automotive Laboratory; Cleophas Jackson, EPA; Ken Howden, Department of Energy; Kevin Westerson, Cummins Filtration; and the banquet speaker, Dr. David Cole, Center for Automotive Research.

Changes happen fast in the emissions business. For those who seek to understand the state-of-the-art and what’s coming down the pike, this year’s conference will outline the entire landscape. Moderators and speakers represent leading equipment suppliers, OEM’s, regulators, and filter and emission device producers from the industries most prominent companies and service providers. If you want to hear what the best minds in the industry have to say, the conference will provide links necessary to understand the nuances and pitfalls as well as the opportunities.
