Turbo-Dryer Used in Food-Grade Applications
Wyssmont's Turbo-Dryer is being successfully used to continuously dry a colorant for use in a food-grade product.

This Turbo-Dryer is being successfully used to continuously dry a colorant for use in a food-grade product. The Turbo-Dryer was selected over a fluid bed dryer because the quality of the product was higher than previously seen. It is shipped shop assembled with drives attached on an integral base frame with insulated housing.

The Turbo-Dryer is a proprietary continuous tray dryer design that consists of a stack of rotating circular trays in a sealed enclosure. Material is fed onto the top tray, leveled, and after one revolution, is wiped onto the next lower tray where the operation is repeated. Fans circulate heated air in the enclosure to provide the drying medium.

The dryer can also be used to dry solvent-wet materials in an inert gas recycle system with virtually 100% recovery of the solvent and gas/solids reactions.
