South Carolina-based specialty chemicals manufacturing firm Ingevity Corporation revealed plans Wednesday to move its corporate headquarters from North Charleston, SC to another site in the state.
Investing $5 million in the project, the company’s new 110,000-sq-ft facility in Charleston County will contain office space housing the firm’s leadership, business, and non-technical support teams. About 100 new jobs will be created when the project reaches completion.
“Ingevity has flourished in the North Charleston community for more than 70 years,” Michael Wilson, Ingevity’s president and chief executive officer, said in a company press release. “As the largest publicly traded company by revenues in the Charleston region, we are proud to continue growing our roots in this community.”
The site of the company’s former headquarters site will continue to house the Ingevity Technical Center, laboratory space, and a manufacturing facility. Following the move of the headquarters, Ingevity plans to revamp the laboratory space and offices for its technical staff.
Ingevity produces specialty chemicals and high-performance carbon materials that are used in agrochemicals, adhesives, chemical intermediates, and a wide range of other applications.
