Fire officials said flames broke out Friday afternoon in the process area of Ortec Inc.’s Easley, SC production plant.

Firefighters were dispatched to the Ortec Inc. chemical manufacturing plant in Easley, SC Friday afternoon after a fire ignited inside the facility, local news organizations reported.

The blaze started around 4 p.m. in a 40 ft by 40 ft area in the structure, Easley Fire Department Chief Matthew Littleton told NBC News affiliate WYFF. No chemicals were released during the fire.

A Pickens County HAZMAT team responded to the scene during the incident, coverage by FOX Carolina said. No injuries were documented.

Workers evacuated the facility after the fire started, detailed news broadcaster WSPA. The plant was operating when the blaze broke out.

Ortec is a provider of custom chemical manufacturing services. The firm currently operates three production sites, including the Easley location.
