Explosion at Agricultural Chemicals Plant Injures 1

An explosion and resulting fire at an agricultural chemicals plant Monday morning in Yokohama, Japan injured a man, local law enforcement officials told The Japan Times.

Crews responded to the SDS Biotech K.K. facility after the explosion and fire was reported at about 9 a.m.

Fire crews put down the fire by about noon, according to the newspaper’s report. Officials said they are investigating the cause of the incident.

Founded in 1968, SDS Biotech K.K. is a developer and manufacturer of agrochemicals, including the fruit tree and fungicide Daconil, the firm’s website said.
