Crews Respond to Leak at Hexion Chemical Plant

A formaldehyde leak forced officials to close off part of a roadway near the chemical production facility.

Emergency personnel were called to a report of a chemical leak at the Hexion Specialty Chemicals Inc. plant in Springfield, OR on Sunday, several local news organizations reported.

The chemical involved in the incident was formaldehyde, according to coverage by ABC News affiliate KEZI.

Firefighters and HAZMAT teams responded to the scene.

Several people were taken to an area hospital to receive an evaluation, news broadcaster KVAL said. No serious injuries were logged.

Officials closed part of a road near the Hexion plant during the response, KEZI’s account stated. 

Hexion, based in Columbus, OH, specializes in production of thermoset resins and other specialty products. The company operates 60 industrial sites across the globe.
