One firefighter was transported to a hospital after experiencing respiratory issues during the response.

HAZMAT personnel and firefighters were dispatched to the 3M Canada plant in Brockville, ON on Wednesday after an ammonia leak was reported at the facility, local news organizations reported.

Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshall tweeted that a provincial HAZMAT team and other first responders were sent to the plant for a “hazardous materials incident.”

Workers reportedly evacuated the facility during the incident. Police told GlobalNews.ca firefighter experienced minor respiratory issues during the response and was taken to a hospital.

A section of Waltham Road near the plant were closed as firefighters worked the scene, according to coverage by CBC. Officials said the ammonia leak was isolated to one area of the facility.

The leak is under investigation.
