Chemicals Firm Evonik Corp. Names New President

Specialty chemicals firm Evonik Corporation announced Monday that Bonnie Tully replaced John Rolando as the company’s chief executive officer. Tully is retiring after more than three decades with Evonik.

Tully most recently served as chief financial officer for the firm’s North America region. In the new role, she will lead up the North America region.

“Bonnie Tully’s leadership skills and broad experience within the organization make her the right person to head the North American region as we continue to position Evonik as a world-leading specialty chemical company driven by innovation and sustainability,” Evonik Chief Financial Officer Ute Wolf said in a company press release. “I also want to thank John Rolando for his efforts in leading the region through tremendous growth and helping transform Evonik’s portfolio and culture into the best-in-class organization we know today.”

The executive started her career as a project engineer at Rohm & Haas in 1996. From 1998 to 2006, Tully served as materials manager and technical manager at Evonik Oil Additives (Rohmax) in Houston, TX. Following that post, she was transferred to Singapore to support the firm’s Oil Additives business in the Asia-Pacific region. Tully became Head of Site Service at Evonik’s largest facility in North America in Mobile, AL in 2011.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University.

Last month, Evonik said it was committing €25 million (about $27 million) to expand capacity for APIs and intermediates at its plants in Dossenheim and Hanau in Germany to meet growing European demand for contract API manufacturing and advanced intermediates. The first stage of the expansion effort is slated to reach completion by mid-2021. Evonik expects the project to be fully completed in 2024.
