Chemical supplier Hydrite announced Wednesday that plans for a $21 million expansion project at its Waterloo, IA manufacturing facility will move forward after the project was awarded tax credits through the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) High Quality Jobs tax credit program.

The company said in a release that it will increase manufacturing and warehouse space at the site and expand its transportation fleet over the next three years. 20 new positions will be created through the project, increasing the Waterloo facility’s headcount to 158 workers.

IEDA board members announced that the Hydrite project would be supported with tax credits on February 18.

Hydrite is currently in the process of adding a new thiosulfate production line and installing a sulfur burner at its Terre Haute, IN manufacturing site. The company produces a wide range of products used in food processing, industrial chemicals, pet food, oil and gas, bio fuels, and other applications.
