The Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) calculator by specialized polymer materials company Avient evaluates the carbon footprint of its solutions to help provide an understanding of the environmental impact of end products.
By providing information on the PCF of Avient products, the tool can help Avient customers understand the environmental impact of their own end products and provide a clearer picture of their carbon emissions. The calculator allows Avient to help address the challenges that some of its customers face when determining which products have a lower carbon footprint.
Key features of the PCF Calculator include:
Third-Party Certified: The PCF Calculator is certified by TÜV Rheinland, providing a third-party review for quantifying and reporting the carbon footprint of products and aligns with the ISO 14067:2018 Standard.
Baseline Carbon Footprint: It allows companies to establish a baseline carbon footprint for their products.
Sustainability Goals: By using the PCF Calculator, businesses can better understand the carbon footprints of their products and align with their sustainability and carbon emission reduction goals.
Industries that are using Avient products include energy, transportation, construction, healthcare, to package food, suncare, cosmetics, and beverages, and more.
From its launch in late 2023 through early 2024, the PCF Calculator’s monthly customer usage doubled. and Avient tracks use of the calculator to help gauge the utility of the tool. The company says the PCF Calculator can help enable collaboration across the value chain, from suppliers to converters and brand owners, to help them identify opportunities to help meet their sustainability goals.
