The Wolfson Centre's calendar of Short Courses for Industry is now out and open for registration.

Part of the University of Greenwich in London, UK, the Centre offers a wide range of short courses designed specifically for engineers involved in the handling and/or designing of equipment for bulk solid materials.

Each course looks at methods to avoid or resolve problems encountered in different situations allowing delegates to gain the knowledge to help troubleshoot issues themselves. Courses are to be offered as a mix of online learning and face-to-face training.

2025 Short Course Calendar

January 20-21: Measurement of the Properties and Bulk Behaviour of Particulate Materials -  An overview of methods for determining bulk behaviour of particulate materials (online)

January 27-28: Caking and Lump Formation of Powders and Bulk Solids - Concentration on issues relating to keeping powders and granules in a free-flowing, lump-free condition (online)

February 10: Undesired Deblending and Separation in Processes and Equipment - Identification of common segregation mechanisms and how to minimise the effects (online)

February 13: Electrostatics in Powder Handling - Causes and effects of electrostatic charging in powders and bulk material handling (online)

February 25-28: Workshop Week - A series of practical workshops in the onsite pilot plant using different techniques to establish the behaviour of bulk solid materials.

March 12-14: Storage and Discharge of Powders and Bulk Solids - A basic course covering the operation, design and specifications of hoppers and silos for reliable discharge. Includes Optional Practical workshop An opportunity to see demonstrations of equipment used to test storage and discharge conditions in the on-site pilot plant

March 26-27: Troubleshooting and Commissioning' Hands-on' Pneumatic Conveying Systems -  A look at the practical challenges of starting up systems on site and making sure they work as the designer intended.
