Registration is now open for four courses from the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) and Kansas State University in September. These online courses run from Sept. 15 through Oct. 20, and registration closes Sept. 9.  Each course takes roughly 10 hours to complete.

GEAPS 510: Grain Facilities Planning and Design I
This course covers the key factors and information needed to build new facilities or modernize existing structures. Participants learn about facility types and capacities, storage structures, equipment, layouts and site selection. At the end of the course, participants will lay out a simple facility.

GEAPS 520: Grain Quality Management
This course helps anyone responsible for grain quality, including those who work with storing and conditioning, aerating, drying, pest control or mycotoxin management. Participants learn about quality control, measurement methods and international grain-grading standards.

GEAPS 524: Grain Drying
The course covers basic principles of grain drying, with strategies for improving energy efficiency. This course is recommended for anyone from facility operators to dryer manufacturers and sales staff.

GEAPS 620: Grain Receiving, Cleaning and Conditioning
This course teaches the basic principles of milling by covering each step of the milling processing in detail. The first half of the course covers grain receiving, handling, storage and blending. The second half focuses on grain separation and cleaning, and the differences between grain conditioning and tempering.  This course will help identify the equipment used in the milling process and apply that knowledge in practical situations.

All four of these courses count towards credentials from GEAPS and Kansas State University. For more information on the certification, visit the GEAPS credential website

Courses cost $700 for GEAPS members and $965 for non-members. Anyone interested in purchasing a block of five courses can get a sixth course for free. Learn more about the bundle.
