An employee at a Berry Plastics plant in Phillipsburg, NJ died Tuesday after a machinery-related industrial accident, law enforcement officials told

Police Chief Jason Garcia told the news organization that authorities responded to an emergency call reporting a fall that came in at about 11:39 a.m., but said the incident was better described “as an industrial accident involving machinery.”

The article did not identify the exact type of equipment involved in the death, but noted that police said the man, an employee of Berry Plastics, was working in an area of the plant with numerous types of equipment.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) dispatched investigators to the scene, the agency’s Avenel, NJ office told the news organization.

A local medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death and will release the man’s identity once his family is informed, Garcia said.
