A 54-year-old man died inside a Texas grain silo Wednesday after he was buried by material, several local news organizations reported.

The victim, identified as David Amaro, was suspended inside the silo at the Bottlinger Grain Company site in Hamilton, TX by a rope when it gave way and he fell into the silo, becoming covered by grain, CBS News affiliate KWTX reported.

“We just couldn’t get him out quick enough,” Hamilton County Sheriff Justin Caraway, who attempted to save Amaro, told the television news station.

Fire crews from four communities responded to the scene, extracting the man’s body after two hours. Amaro was pronounced dead at the silo.
