March 20, 2017
British agribusiness Tate & Lyle PLC entered into a partnership and distribution agreement with Bellingham, WA-based Sweet Green Fields to distribute some of the American ingredient firm’s stevia-based sweeteners, the companies announced in a joint press release March 16.
“This is an exciting new partnership bringing together a collective passion for food, science, and sweeteners,” Joan Braca, president of Tate & Lyle’s specialty food ingredients unit, said in a statement. “We will offer customers an extensive range of stevia-based ingredients and solutions to help them meet growing consumer demand for healthier food and beverages with natural ingredients and fewer calories or less sugar.”
With the partnership scheduled to become effective April 3, Tate & Lyle will distribute the American company’s line of steviol glycosides, including the firm’s Project Non-GMO Verified products, certified organic offerings, INTESSE, a proprietary stevia ingredient, and the Optimizer stevia brand.
Braca added that Sweet Green Fields’ expertise in the science behind stevia sweeteners from seed-to-sale and Tate & Lyle’s global range and strengths in sales, quality assurance, applications know-how, and innovations pipeline will create opportunities for innovations in stevia ingredients.
“We are delighted that Sweet Green Fields is combining its leading range of stevia products and knowledge with Tate & Lyle’s global scale and capabilities in sales, quality assurance, and applications development,” said Dean Francis, chief executive officer of the ingredients firm, in the release. “We look forward to introducing our extraordinary stevia solutions to customers worldwide.”
The British company said it will support the products with access to its global network of application laboratories and scientists to assist customers in developing products and accelerating speed to market.
