The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME), its divisions and affiliates offer multiple scholarships to SME student members who seek a career in the mining and minerals industries. SME is accepting applications for the 2018 scholarship season through October 22, 2018.

More than $400,000 in scholarships will be awarded by SME Divisions, the SME Foundation, the Women’s Auxiliary to AIME (WAAIME), and the Underground Construction Association of SME (UCA of SME).

New this year is the Robert E. Murray Innovation Scholarship that recognizes an SME student’s innovative concepts with a $5000 scholarship. Additionally, several memorial scholarships have been created to honor Society leaders and their contributions to the industry.

“SME is committed to strengthening the professional workforce and increasing educational opportunities for the industry’s future leaders,” said SME Executive Director David L. Kanagy. “These exceptional individuals will help determine a critical path for the future of the mining industry.”

An online portal facilitates the application process, streamlining the procedure for students and reviewers. For a list of available scholarships and more detailed information, visitwww.smenet.org/students/grants-scholarships or contact [email protected].
