The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME), its divisions, and affiliates offer multiple scholarships to SME student members who seek a career in the mining and minerals industries. SME is accepting applications for the 2019 scholarship season through October 15, 2019.

More than $400,000 in scholarships will be awarded by SME Divisions, the SME Foundation, the Women’s Auxiliary to AIME (WAAIME), and the Underground Construction Association of SME (UCA of SME). Additionally, several memorial scholarships have been created to honor Society leaders and their contributions to the industry.

“A key mission of SME is to foster interest in, and facilitate the study of, mining and mineral-related courses at institutions of higher learning by providing scholarships to qualified students,” said SME executive director David L. Kanagy. “We are proud to be able to provide these educational opportunities to the future leaders of the global mining community.”

An online portal facilitates the application process, streamlining the procedure for students and reviewers. For a list of available scholarships and more detailed information, visit smenet.org/scholarships or contact [email protected].
