Paints, coatings, and specialty materials firm PPG has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase powder coatings manufacturer Alpha Coating Technologies LLC, the company announced in a release Wednesday. 

“Alpha’s best-in-class service, technology, and quick turnaround color matching capabilities will be a strategic complement to PPG,” Kevin Braun, vice president of Industrial Coatings, Americas at PPG, said in a statement. “We are pleased to welcome Alpha into the PPG family and continue providing our customers with outstanding products and services.

Based in West Chicago, Alpha produces powder coatings for light industrial uses, medium density fiberboard (MDF), and heat sensitive substrates. The firm also is a toll manufacturer of powder coatings for metal and light industrial applications. 

Earlier this week, PPG said it closed its purchase of paints and coatings manufacturer Industria Chemica Reggiana (ICR) S.p.A., Powder & Bulk Solids reported. The Italian firm has a presence in over 70 countries in North and South America, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.
