Food ingredient firm Orkla expanded its offerings of bakery ingredients with the acquisition of Netherlands-based Vamo Produkten voor de Bakkerij B.V. (Vamo) by its subsidiary Sonneveld Group B.V., a company press release announced Tuesday.

“Vamo is a well-run company with a good customer base and a product portfolio that is a good fit with Sonneveld. The acquisition of Vamo will complement Sonneveld’s position as a supplier of ingredients and accessories to the bakery market,” Sonneveld Chief Executive Officer Peter Verhagen said in a statement.

Established in 1963, Vamo is a manufacturer of concentrates and ingredient mixes for industrial and artisan bakeries. The company also serves the Benelux region with specialty ingredients for corn-based products. 20 workers are currently employed by Vamo.

The newly-acquired ingredient maker will be included in Orkla’s financial statements on Sept. 1, 2019. Orkla and Vamo did not disclose the price of the transaction.
