A former Coca-Cola executive is joining Mondelez International as the new head of the snack giant’s North America business, a company press release announced on Wednesday.

Overseeing major brands like Oreo cookers, Triscuit crackers and Trident gum, 49-year-old Glen Walter will become steward of the firm’s $7 billion business in America and Canada this November.

“Glen is an inspirational leader with an impressive track record of building brands and driving growth in North America and beyond,” Mondelez chairman and chief executive officer Irene Rosenfeld said in a statement. “His deep operating experience in complex businesses, including a strong focus on sales excellence, make him a terrific leader for our North America region.”

Walter brings substantial beverage industry experience to the role. Starting his career at EJ Gallo Winery, he served as president of beer maker InBevUSA prior to joining Coca-Cola. During his role at InBev, Walter led the integration of the Bass Ale and Beck’s beer brands and worked in M&A roles in InBev and Interbrew. Walter was named president and chief operating officer at Coca-Cola in North America before moving to his most recent role as chief executive officer of Coca-Cola Industries China.

“I’m thrilled to join Mondelez International and begin working with the leadership team to grow the North American business on the top and bottom lines,” said Walter in the release. “I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues to shape the future of our unparalleled portfolio of iconic brands.”
