McCormick Taps Former Kraft Exec for Board of Directors

Maker of spices and flavorings McCormick & Company appointed a retired chief executive officer of Kraft Foods Group, Tony Vernon, as a member of its Board of Directors, the Sparks, MD-based firm announced Tuesday.

“Mr. Vernon brings deep consumer products industry expertise to our board. He’s successfully managed some of the most respected and iconic brands in the world and we look forward to his contributions to our long-term growth,” said Lawrence Kurzius, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of McCormick, in a statement.

Vernon served as chief executive officer of Kraft Foods Group from 2012 to 2014, staying on with the company as a senior advisor and executive director until April 2015. He also held the position of executive vice president of Kraft Foods and president of North America from 2009 to 2012.

Before joining Kraft, Vernon worked as a healthcare industry partner at private equity firm Ripplewood Holdings LLC and held leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson.

The incoming board member also serves on the boards of Intersect ENT Inc., Novocure Limited, and Axovant Sciences Inc.
