Seasonings and condiments manufacturer McCormick & Company is teaming up with food and beverage flavors firm Blue Pacific Flavors to collaborate on encapsulated flavor delivery in powdered beverages, confectionery, and bakery products, the companies announced in a recent joint press release.
The firms will use Flavor Cell technology developed by McCormick’s Flavor Solutions business segment and Blue Pacific’s proprietary, patented technology platform for encapsulated natural flavors.
“Higher quality and better tasting powdered beverages are becoming a preferred option for Millennials and Gen Z who want beverages that offer authentic taste and convenience, and share their values in sustainability,” the chief executive officer of Blue Pacific, Donald Wilkes, said in a statement.
Under the terms of the collaboration, Blue Pacific will take on the distribution of McCormick’s existing FlavorCell flavors and develop custom flavors with its natural fruit flavor keys. The companies said their products will offer “full, multidimensional flavor” compared to flavors produced with spray drying.
“We see substantial interest in higher quality, encapsulated natural flavors from our core natural food and beverage clients. Our customers are looking for flavors that have stronger aroma and more authentic flavor impact than traditional spray-dried flavors,” Wilkes said.
