March 13, 2017
Kansas State University’s (K-State) Bulk Solids Innovation Center in Salina, Kansas is offering two courses this year on important aspects of bulk solids handling, the institution of higher learning announced Monday.
A class on storage and flow of bulk solids will be held from April 18 to 20, providing lessons on important topics related to powder and bulk solid flow in bins, hoppers, and chutes. Participants will receive information on bin, chute, and feeder design, common problems in bulk solids handling, and troubleshooting procedures to combat issues.
“Participants will improve their ability to design, maintain, and improve bulk solids handling systems, understand advantages and disadvantages of the various types of systems, evaluate vendor options, and optimize the performance of existing systems,” K-State said in a press release.
Another course running from June 20 to 23 is a refresher class on bulk solids handling. In this class, participants will also learn about flow issues, bin, chute, and feeder design, and troubleshooting problems, as well as pneumatic conveying system design. The practical component of the course includes time in a full-scale test laboratory that focuses on dilute and dense phase pneumatic conveying.
Registration for either course costs $1500. Those successfully completing the courses are eligible to receive credit hours.
