The maker of Harmonite composite powder, RSS LLC, announced Wednesday that it has received designation as an Essential Critical Infrastructure Industry within the U.S. chemical industry, and is exempt from the Georgia governor’s ‘Shelter In Place’ order, dated April 2, 2020.

“RSS remains open and will maintain daily production and shipping of Harmonite products,” the company said in a release. “We are making every effort to assure that service to our customers is not affected, and that timely delivery schedules continue to be met.”

The company said it has implemented best practices in both of its manufacturing plants and its offices to hinder the spread of the novel coronavirus, including social distancing, restricting access to facilities, eliminating non-essential travel, and additional disinfecting and sanitation practices.

Workers are encouraged to remain home if ill with COVID-19 symptoms, or if they have traveled to or from areas at risk as identified by CDC, or if they have been in contact with anyone who is infected with the virus.

“The safety of our employees and their families remains our most vital concern,” RSS said. “We have enacted best practices in our manufacturing facilities and offices to help prevent and slow the spread of COVID-19 and encourage everyone to do the same.
