Canadian grain handling firm G3 Canada Limited plans to construct a new state-of-the-art grain elevator near Carmangay, AB that will feature a capacity of 42,000 tn, the Winnipeg, MB-based company announced in a press release Friday.
“G3 Carmangay is designed to save farmers’ time and keep their grain moving to market,” the firm’s chief executive officer, Don Chapman, said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to being part of the community in and around Vulcan County, and showing farmers how our industry leading speed and efficiency can benefit their business.”
Technology used by the company can empty Super-B trucks in under five minutes and fill 134-car trains in a few hours on a loop track. The new elevator will be situated on a CP Rail line.
G3 Canada’s site is expected to become operational in 2020 around the time the company plans to start up its new grain export terminal in Vancouver. Additional grain elevators are also under construction in Wetaskiwin, AB and Maidstone, SK.
The company owns one of the largest private fleets of grain hopper cars in Canada and currently operates a number of grain elevators and port terminals in the country.
