Firm Invests $40M to Build New Feed Mill in Louisiana

Poultry processor House of Raeford Farms announced plans Tuesday to invest $40 million in the construction of a new feed mill in Simsboro, LA. When the project reaches completion, the facility will have a capacity of 12,500 tn/week.
In addition to the new mill, House of Raeford Farms also said it will invest $7 million to upgrade a hatchery in Gibsland, LA and a processing facility in Arcadia, LA and acquire new equipment for the sites. 100 new jobs will be added at the firm’s complex in Arcadia as a result of the project.
“House of Raeford is committed to our operations in Louisiana as evidenced by these major capital expenditures and planned employment increases,” Bob Johnson, the company’s chief executive officer, said in a press release. “In keeping with the growth objectives of our company, our Louisiana complex is also the first of our locations to offer No Antibiotics Ever chicken products to our customers.”
The company expects construction work on the new feed mill to last 18 months to two years.
House of Raeford Farms operates facilities Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
